The video discusses about the impact of technology on people. Critics are worried that teenagers are greatly affected by the various modes of technology giving less importance to family time and friends. On the other hand, some think that using various technologies actually makes us efficient, creative and help us to develop the skill of multitasking.
So which side do you support? Is technology a boon or a bane?
The video talks about the issue of how two teenagers use their iphone for their work. It seems that they use it for about 12-16 hours. Even though it seems that more than half the day is being used on technology, it doesn't really affect them badly in a sense. They are using it for their work. In fact, they use iphone applications like road maps to find a particular place. It saves their time by reaching to their destination on time.
ReplyDeleteThus, technology is rather a boon in this way. Moreover, people still send greeting cards even if there are greeting cards online. People still refer the 'human touch' to greeting cards. Hence even if technology advances, people still respect and wants certain things to work in the traditional way.
For example, a teacher asks the students to use a blog as their platform to discuss issues is a typical example of how technology is a boon.(in our case, dear 2e3) The teacher might have simply asked the students to cut out newspaper articles or magazine articles to write reviews.
But the teacher wanted it to be tech-saavy. Thus, it saves the students' time on searching for an article, cutting it out and pasting it on paper. With the help of technology, it can be done in a shorter duration of time. The unqiue thing is that these views from students will be on the net for the years to come!! It becomes a history rather than just a piece of a review!!:))

ReplyDeleteTechnology is necessary as it has has made our lives easier and we do have not to repeat our daily chores or tasks manually.
From the video, we learnt that the two teenagers have spent nearly half of theirs days on iphone for their work these however do not disrupt them but eventually help them to save times and located the place that they wanted to go.
Some jobs I believe can't do by "hand", technology conveniently help to carry out tasks automatically without making a person lose motivation. On the other hand, technology make work easier accurately and efficiently.
Therefore technology is a boon but not a bane to people.

ReplyDeleteFrom the video,we have learn about 2 teenagers spenting about half of their day on their work by using Iphone or Ipod Touch .This is not really a bad thing as they are using thier Iphone or Ipod Touch for work instead of playing online games.When they are using the Iphone or Ipod Touch,they are also using it to find places that are maybe hard instead of using the map and going around asking people for directions and that would save alot of their time.
Technology is rather important to human this days.Technology is important because it helps to save alot of time in doing somthing or searching for infomation.Technology also benefits human in many ways.People can use email,msn,handphone or facebook to communicate with their friends without seeing them in person or going to the mail box just to sent a mail which may be quite far from your house.For example,when you are lost at a place that you have never been before and handphone or iphone was never invented.It would be nearly impossible to find out where are you without a iphone or handphone which have application like map.Another example would be,when you have some question about the lesson teacher taught today or you need to ask about what homework did teacher gave,you can use MSN or Facebook and ask your friends about it which is very useful.
Although some technology may affect teenagers to have less time with your family and friends,it doesn't mean all technoglogy would affect teenagers to have less times with family and friends.For example,during a friends birthday,i can decorate a birthday card using my computer and print it out easily for him instead of going around a shopping mall to search for one birthday card and that birthday card may not be the type of birthday card you want.By using the computer,you can decorate it in anyway you want which also save time.Another example would be that by using the MSN you can chat with your friends online which also means that you are already spenting time with your friends just by chatting online using MSN.
Technology can also enable us to become more creative and develop the skill of multitasking.
That's why technology is a boon to human instead of a bane.
Technologies , like computers & iphones , are a sign of times . It is something invented t take thy rediousity of certain collating , organising & thinking process . It has certainly brought about a big change in our lifestyles . Th view that it is more of a bane than a boon seems t be completely out of place in a world which has learnt t enjoy & use computers . It is ridiculous . Th statement is th typical "mourn" of a person clamouring for th "good old days" .
ReplyDeleteTh trouble w th "good old days" is that though they fill us w nostalgia , they were not all "good" . For some reason , people clamouring for them do not see th pain they held . Before th invention of computers , laptops & iphones , nearly everything was slow . Dota processing was slow , map reading was slow , typing on type writers was tedious , accounting was done by hand and was very slow and tedious . It was technology that sped up all these processes . What is th advantage of everything being sped up ? It is a great blessing sometimes , If simple , but troublesome , tasks like data processing can be done faster it will leave us more free time t do other important tasks . It is hardly possible t understand how this can be a bane .
Perhaps th idea that technology is a bane is derived from th trouble that it has caused in some areas . there are people who lost their jobs because technologies , like th computer , has made them redundant . Frankly , this is a problem of looking at th "problem" . Th fact that th computer is able t replace a person is a clear indication that th person should be doing something else more important , no ? Many companies where computers have replaced people do not just retrench workers ; but go through elaborated programmes t retrain th workers . This is an upgrading and th worker concerned should see th 0phenomenon as a blessing ; since it was th compurter that was indirectly responsible for his upgrading .
Another reason for looking at technology as a bane is perhaps th fact that it makes one waste time playing games . this is a ridiculous accusation ; as time could just as well be wasted watching silly TV programmes . On top of that , playing games on th computer or iphone is at least interactive , unloike th habit of staring at th goggle box . Over & above all this , playing computer games or iphone applications , is an option that one chooses . There is no compulsion t waste time in this or any other way . It is not fair t call technology a bane on such grounds .
Hence , it is my opinion t call technology more a bane than a boon is grossly unfair . Technology is a great blessing . Like everything else , whether technology is a boon or a bane depends a lot on how one exercises his or her choice .

We need technology in our life. without technology,we are unable to find information about things or other neccesary things in out life. in the videos, that two teenages was using their phone all the way while they're walking. their eyes were always on their phone.technology is somehow rewiring our brains as we are somehow addicted to it. technology somehow wasted our time as there're some ppl who plays computer games.we'll be addicted to the games and other technology things and it'll affect our studies and other things.

Further more Technology help us find information easier and help us communicate/share idea with one and other like we are doing now. However there are disadvantages of Technology as it waste our time as there are many games like Computer games, Ps2, Ps3, PsP and Xbox. Therefore we must use technology wisely and carefully

ReplyDeleteFrom the video, the 2 person is using technology almost everyday for their work. I think technology would be a great help for us to do our homework, projects and research. If we do not have this technology, we would not be able to use wat we are using now and we would have difficulties communicating while we are at home.
Technology is important to us as it would be a very good help for us. We are able to communicate while we are at home and we are also able to online homework such as this work we are doing now.
Meanwhile technology would be mis-used as there are game that can be played online, some teenagers would tend to use computer to play games instead of doing research or something useful.
Technology would benefit us more as there are application like e-mail and MSN to help us communicate while we are at home. These application would also allows us to send file to those who nid it. There are also printer so that we could print what we need and can be shown to everyone easily.
Technology are easy to use and it would be more convenient for us. We could do many things at once which is called multi-tasking.
Hence, technology would be a boon instead of bane to humans

Now we can use email,text messaging and instant chat online.
We are also going into school work using technology such as this online blog where we share our thoughts and views.
we now can use social networking sites such as Facebook to help us locate our relatives and friends from afar. We can also use skype to do video calling overseas or local.
therefore, technology is useful to humans.
In this video, we learnt that teenagers nowadays use their iphoes for nearly the whole of their daytime.The purposes of them using their iphone applications so frequently are mainly for street directories, communication, gaming, as music players, so on and so forth.Despite the advantages,there are some flaws of our modern tecnology.For example,if we play a game on our iphone over a long period of time, we could easily get hooked up on it.However,although using phones for a long period of time may seem a bad idea,but to ohters,it may seem the total opposite. Thus, I am not able to tell if it is useful or harmful.

Technology are created for humans to make their life easy. For example, the iPhone, all you have to do is to install an application and you can find out almost anything, ( which of course, thanks to the internet too. ) like finding your way to a destination and checking the weather forecast. Thanks to the iPhone, if we lost our way or anything, we just have to check our iPhone. Life is convenient because of technology. However, if we use technology too much, humans gets lazy or forgetful, it's because they always write their "notes" down in their devices. And they make their devices do the stuff. Hence I think that technology is neither good or bad.
